Three Great And Simple Fried Turkey Recipes For This Thanksgiving Holiday
Millions of Americans will be cooking turkey in the next couple of weeks as my favourite holiday of the year rolls around... Thanksgiving. While many will probably stick to the tried & tested roasted-in-the-oven recipes, some brave people will be trying new and innovative methods to cook their holiday turkey, such as grilling, smoking or even deep frying turkey.
Deep fried turkey might sound a little strange if you have not tried it yet, but if you are a fan of crispy turkey skin, then you'll love deep fried turkey. Or if you like dark meat, fried turkey legs & wings will become your new favourite Thanksgiving dish. No matter whether you are a fan of white or dark meat, here are many turkey fryer recipes that will make sure to wow you and your family this Thanksgiving:
Super Simple Fried Turkey Recipe
If you like a more conventional turkey, you will love the simplicity of this fried turkey recipe.
Components for Super Easy Fried Turkey:

1-10 pound turkey (12 lbs max)
One tablespoon salt
One tablespoon ground black pepper
Louisiana Style Deep Fried Turkey Recipe
I like spicy foods, thus this Creole seasoned fried turkey recipe is one of my favorites.
Ingredients:
Peanut oil for frying (check directions for your turkey fryer for exact amount, but approximate amount will be 3 gallons)
1-10 to 12 lb turkey, full
¼ cup Creole seasoning
1 white onion, full
Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey; rinse and dry. Rub the turkey in and out with the Creole seasoning. Place the turkey and the whole white onion in the fry basket. See the Normal Turkey Frying Directions below for instructions on how to cook the turkey.
Deep Fried Rosemary Turkey
This is a more stylish fried turkey recipe, excellent if you are trying to impress the in-laws!
Ingredients:
1 (10-12 lb) full turkey
1/2 cup minced garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
3 gallons peanut oil (or as required)
3 sprigs fresh rosemary
12 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 cup chopped fresh ginger root
Directions:
Rub the turkey with the minced garlic, sale and pepper, on the in and outside. Fill the cavity of the bird with rosemary, garlic cloves and the ginger. Marinate for half-an-hour in the fridge.
Remove the herbs and garlic from the turkey and discard. Follow the typical turkey frying directions below. Enjoy!
Normal Turkey Frying Directions:
* Heat oil to 350 degrees F. Ensure that the fryer is placed outdoors in a safe place (flat dirt or grassy surface away from the home, wooden decks or other flammable surfaces).
* Trim any extra skin away from the thawed turkey. The neck hole must be at least 1 inch in diameter. Pat the turkey dry, then rub generously with salt and pepper on both the in and outside. Place the turkey neck-side first into fry basket.
* Lower the basket into the hot oil, gently and gradually. Make sure the hot oil totally covers the turkey.
* Cook for 3 1/2 - 4 minutes per lb. For a 10 pound turkey, it should take about 35-40 mins to cook the bird.
* Remove the turkey from oil and insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of thigh to measure. Temperature will be 180 degrees F.
* Allow the turkey to rest for 15 minutes before carving.
