If you're a grill enthusiast, you've most certainly heard of the Big Green Egg smoker. It is a ceramic grill you can use as a grill, smoker and an outdoor oven. It's so flexible you can prepare everything from hamburgers and steaks and other traditional barbeque grill foods to desserts, breads and also pizza.

Eggheads can't live without the big green egg smoker, but you might be asking what makes the Egg (as it's fondly called) out-shine other barbeque grills.

Probably the greatest difference is the overall look of the grill. big green egg grill is well, green and the same shape as a big egg. I can't think of another grill that has such a following.

I will admit, the Egg does have some disadvantages in comparison with other bbq grills. For instance, it is not a cheap bbq grill. You could pay around $700 for a large Big Green Egg. In addition, you should use lump wood charcoal, which isn't always readily available and can be quite a bit more pricey when compared with traditional charcoal briquettes. The Big Green Egg also has a smaller cooking surface when compared with many gas grills, meaning you'll need to have a backup bbq grill if you are entertaining many people.

However, the overall flexibility of the Big Green Egg, the ability to grill, smoke or bake with your Egg, as well as the awesome results you will get (the Egg is quite forgiving, even for novice grillers) are well worth the price tag. If you're a barbeque fan and you do a good deal of smoking in addition to barbecuing you will appreciate the quality and the results you get when cooking on the Big Green Egg.
