It is pretty odd and tragic the way our priorities now and again back-fire. The first time I purchased my children audio books on cd was when I was going on a business trip for a few weeks. I had been reading to my daughter from the same book every single night for a week or 2, and we were approximately half-way done with it. She was very sad to see me go, and I knew that she would really miss that story. On a whim, I went to the local audio-book shop and discovered that I was able to get a copy of it. At first, she was a little bit nervous about listening to the children audiobook. She explained to me that she wanted to hear me reading it, not some tape-recorder. Nonetheless, when she figured out that I wasn't going to stay it does not matter how much she begged and pleaded, she relented and decided to listen to the children audio books.
She actually really enjoyed it. I like to believe that she still enjoys the way I read more than she likes kids books on cd, but I bet it's a close-call. The children audiobook readers are excellent. My diction is not bad, and I am a pretty emotional reader, but these are real educated actors. Your average run of the mill father just simply can not compete! They know precisely how to read children books to make them thrilling and interactive, keeping your children on the edge until the very last page. Even though my little girl is still unhappy when I leave town, the children audio books make my trip a tad easier on her. Both of us are quite happy about that.
